Well for me this brings things full circle. Last January I went to a fundraiser for Paul Hackett to see what all the fuss was about - and while I was there I met someone named Jan Brown. After the normal small talk, we started talking about kayaking and rafting and outdoor activies. She pointed to a man and said, "My husband Charlie loves doing outdoor things - oh and by the way he is running for Congress against John Doolittle". Needless to say as someone who learned to raft guide on the American River, she had me at "he's running against John Doolittle".

I just wanted to do a recap of a great event I went to last night in support of Charlie Brown and Jerry McNerney - Of course both of them gave great speeches, but one person who really got the crowd going was Pete McCloskey (R)former congressman from who is supporting both Charlie and Jerry because, as he said he is 'embarassed by what the Republicans have become'. Mainly though, he had some pretty exciting statistics and info to share about how the GOTV effort on election day literally put him in office - I think it's great info for anyone working on any of our races across the country.

A warm San Francisco night was the perfect setting for a really terrific fundraiser for the Brown campaign last night. I've met Charlie and Jan a few times and they greeted me like a friend and thanked me for posting comments to Charlie's first couple of diaries. Some other dkos folks there were marksanfran and willymugobeer (helped organize it) and Jan aske me if I had Nolan's email since he moved out to DC. Yes, they love the dkos crowd.
