Fighting in NJ's 14th: Save Our Seniors

In New Jersey, last year's increased property tax rebates were supposed to be a short-term solution to provide assistance to our seniors and families that needed relief now, while waiting for a long-term solution to be determined by a property tax convention.  With the rebates proposed to be cut, the Legislature needs to once again find a way to provide relief now, whether short-term or permanent for the residents of New Jersey.  It needs to recognize the fundamental failure of property taxes as the primary funder of education costs in the state and its inherent unfairness to those on fixed incomes, especially seniors.

Fighting the Done Deal: Running in NJ's 14th

Fri Mar 25, 2005 at 09:27:25 AM PDT

If there is one thing that erodes people's trust in government it is the perception of the "Done Deal." You hear it in the coffee shop, or in town halls all across the country.  "Why bother fighting something, it's a done deal?"  As a Councilman in the suburban town of Hamilton, New Jersey, I have had to fight against both the real done deals and the apathy created by the perceived ones.  Unfortunately, only powerful special interests win when people stay home.

I am running in for the State Legislature in New Jersey because I believe we can choose to elect ethical leaders who will advocate for those most vulnerable in our society and stand up to special interests - to fight for what is right.
